XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medication that is injected into the muscles to treat various conditions. It is specifically FDA-approved for cosmetic purposes to improve the temporary appearance of wrinkles or frown lines between the eyebrows, also known as glabellar lines. These lines are caused by the contraction of muscles between the eyebrows caused by squinting and frowning, which creases and furrows the skin. XEOMIN® relaxes these facial muscles and smooths the skin, resulting in a more youthful appearance. XEOMIN® is referred to as a "naked injectable" due to its purity and lack of additives, making it less likely to cause resistance in the body compared to other types of Botulinum toxins like Botox or Dysport. These wrinkles, known as dynamic wrinkles, are caused by facial expressions through dynamic muscle contractions. Although wrinkles cannot be prevented, they can be treated with injections like XEOMIN®. For more information on how XEOMIN® can help you, schedule a personal consultation with our Nurse Injector today!
XEOMIN® is a safe and effective way to reduce wrinkles and rejuvenate your face. It targets the wrinkles and creases on your forehead, between your eyebrows, around your eyes, cheeks, and mouth. XEOMIN® works by blocking the signals between your nerves and muscles, which prevents the muscles from contracting and creating wrinkles. It works quickly and delivers noticeable results in just a few days, which can last for several months. Patients and physicians alike have a high satisfaction rate with this treatment. In a recent study, 70% of patients saw improvement within two days, and by day four, 100% of patients experienced significant improvement in their glabellar lines, even when making facial expressions.
XEOMIN® is a cosmetic treatment that is recommended for adults who have moderate to severe glabellar lines and are not allergic to botulinum toxin. However, there are certain conditions that may make you unsuitable for this treatment. For instance, if you have undergone eye or facial surgery, have breathing problems such as asthma or emphysema, or have a condition that affects your muscles or nerves such as ALS, then XEOMIN® treatment may not be the right choice for you. Additionally, if you have drooping eyelids or are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to be, then you should postpone the treatment until afterwards. To ensure your safety, please inform our staff of any such health conditions during your personal consultation.
Xeomin is a unique neurotoxin that doesn't require refrigeration before use, making it easier to distribute. Unlike other neurotoxins, Xeomin contains only botulinum toxin type A and has no additives. This means that it may pose a lower risk of developing antibodies, which could prevent it from having its desired effects. The onset of Xeomin's effects is within one week, and the results typically last from three to six months, similar to Botox. However, Xeomin should not be used interchangeably with other botulinum products.

Different areas of the face require varying levels of XEOMIN® to achieve the desired smoothness. For example, treatment for a dimpled chin, brow lift, or gummy smile typically requires 2-6 doses of XEOMIN®, while treatment for crow's feet may require 16-24 doses. An accurate assessment of the needed units based on your specific treatment goals can be determined during your personal consultation. The investment for this procedure depends on he treatment that is being done and will be discussed at the consultation.
You may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injection. The median first onset of effect was less than a week. The maximum effect occurred at 30 days. The typical duration of effect was up to 3 months in clinical trials but may last significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.
When you make a frowning or squinting expression, the muscles between your eyebrows tighten, causing the skin to wrinkle and fold. As you age, your skin loses elasticity and these contractions can lead to permanent frown lines. Xeomin® contains botulinum toxin type A which targets the nerve endings in the muscles to prevent them from contracting. By reducing these contractions, Xeomin® can temporarily diminish the appearance of wrinkles between your eyebrows.
Before beginning treatment with Xeomin®, it is important to inform your doctor about any medical conditions you have, such as a disease that affects your muscles and nerves, allergies to any other botulinum toxin product, or any side effects you have experienced from botulinum toxin in the past. Additionally, share your complete medical history and all the medications you are currently taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. It is particularly important to inform your doctor if you have received any other botulinum toxin product in the last four months or in the past. Be sure to provide your doctor with the details of which product(s) you received and when you received them.
During treatment, which usually takes about 10-20 minutes, your doctor will inject Xeomin® into the muscles in your forehead that cause frown lines between your eyebrows. No anesthesia is required; however, your physician may use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort.
Xeomin® may cause serious side effects, including allergic reactions. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to Xeomin® may include itching, rash, redness, swelling, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint. If you experience wheezing, asthma symptoms, or become dizzy or faint, seek medical help immediately. In clinical trials, headache was the most common side effect when Xeomin® was used to treat frown lines between the eyebrows. Additionally, Xeomin® may cause muscle weakness, blurred vision, or drooping eyelids within hours to weeks of treatment. It is important to avoid driving, operating machinery, or engaging in other dangerous activities if you experience any of these side effects. If you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not subside, inform your doctor immediately. This is not a comprehensive list of all the possible side effects of Xeomin®. For more information, please consult your doctor.
